Case Study: Weed Ripper for Kubota F Series
A council in the South of England came to one of our dealers with the challenge of utilising their fleet of Kubota F Series Mowers for Weed Control... Here's what we did.
A council in the South of England came to one of our dealers with the challenge of utilising their fleet of Kubota F Series Mowers for Weed Control. The council wanted to reduce their reliance on herbicides and needed a solution that could help deal with buildup of weeds on the roadside and pavements.
The Kubota F series has a front PTO and a set of lift arms. The lift arms allow an implement to be raised and lowered easily from the seat. There is no hydraulics fitted to a standard F Series, so we needed to operate all the weedbrush functions with the PTO. The UB 6080 MH uses an innovative system, where the PTO provides power for a hydraulic pump, connected up to a reservoir built into the attachment. This allows hydraulics to be used to operate all functions. The angling and powering of the brush can be controlled on a joystick mounted to the Kubota.
The items used in this project for the Weed Brush were as follows:
- ABR UB FM - Bracket for attaching the weed brush
- UB 6080 MH - Hybrid control Weedbrush
- BT 060 FL - 60cm Brush Plate
- ST-UB-JS - Joystick Control
The Kersten UB 6080 MH is a weedbrush designed specifically for fitting to the front of compact tractors and outfront mowers. The weedbrush is suited for both heavy duty path edging and eliminating moss or weeds on wide areas of block paving or tarmac.
Kersten Weedbrushes are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.
